Born Timileyin Akinmuda, this dentist was a member of Da Trybe, the hip-hop collective responsible for that smash hit of the early 2k’s ‘Oya’ whose hook was actually written and performed by him. As a member under Eldee the Don’s Trybe records imprnt while in medical school, Timi would score major hits of his own with ‘Na Flash’ and ‘Lem Tight’ but wasn’t able to complete his album project before Eldee left for the states.
Using his meager resources and limited connects he would complete an album worth of material that would become Na Flash the Album. As one would imagine, the rigors that comes with juggling medical school and a music career took toll and he left the music scene for a while to focus and complete his degree.
Now a full fledged dentist Timi feels the time is right to take another stab at his passion: Music. Armed with two new singles: ‘the very personal ‘Where you dey?’ serves to mark his return over a mellow beat from Sosick and the percussion led hilarious ode to the female derriere’. His second single: ‘Police’ was produced by IKON, giving fresh life to a style perfected by the Trybe/ Trybesmen , Timi is set to take the music bull by the horns once again. Work is already underway on a yet to be titled album scheduled for release in the later part of the year.
This is definitely someone I have my eyes on now and one to watch out for in the coming years.
